Sleep/Behavior Problems linked to BOCE?

Thu, 09/09/2010 - 12:43

We have a 3 1/2 year old son we adopted @ 2 1/2 months of age.  We bonded w/ him @ birth, I am a stay @ home mom.

He has always had sleep issues!  He's never been a good "sleeper".  My mothers intuition has always told me "something" was wrong.  We have a wonderful pediatrician that has helped tremendously.  We have had a sleep study done w/ a diagnosis of night terrors & eeg backed up diagnosis however they wanted to do a sleep deprived eeg just to make sure there weren't any further issues.

The second eeg came w/ the diagnosis of BOCE.  Nuerologists said he had a "very impressive" eeg w/ several spikes.  We have bascially been told by nuerologoists he may or may not ever have a convulsive seizure.  There have been several things that have concerned me about his behavior/sleep deprevation but they will not confirm or deny if they were "episodes" related to spikes.

If anyone has any advise/support on things I can do to help him sleep better & better manage aggressive behavior I would appreciate it.  We have an appointment next week w/ a child phycologist.  Now we will have his pediatrician, 2 nuerologists & a phychologist involved.
