Psychic Seizures - Diet?

Tue, 07/01/2014 - 10:29

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and was diagnosed with epilepsy a few months ago after living with it for about 4 years.

I have simple partial seizures, which I have narrowed down to "psychic seizures" in which stress is a high factor in starting them off. I am currently on Lamotrigine and I'm finding it okay so far.

I have very intense deja vu episodes and it's been very comforting to know that I'm not the only one experiencing these strange symptoms.

I have had two seizures since being diagnosed, the last one being last week which happened whilst I was drifting off to sleep. It has made me feel tired, sluggish, weird and sensing that another may be on the way.

My diet is not the best it could be at the moment, but I'm trying hard to change that. I read somewhere that too much sugar could trigger the seizures. Does anyone have anymore information on this. Or know what to avoid in food that may trigger episodes. Or simply, if food does not affect seizures at all.

Any info at all would be great.

Thanks for reading :)

Amy.

Amy A person can have simple partial seizures without them being psychic, As for deja vu that to since it is a seizure in itself.  As for th deja vu it is a warning to some people that have grand mal seizures that they may have one later. I have narrowed down to "psychic seizures" in which stress   As for diet. Don't change it unless you want to. I haven't changed mine except for cutting some fried foods out. I'll grill more and aet what ever I want.  Basically food doesn't affet seizures. Now there are diets which have been put together which are for people who can't take meds or their meds have little effect on their seizures. Those would be the modied adcins diet or the kenogenic diet. You can get information on those on this site too. If yo uare on meds being taken 2 times a day make the times to take them 12 hours apart. The reason is the medication loses it strength in the body. Dosages are set so your med levels are still good at the 12 hour mark. If taken at 7 am and 9-10 pm those 2-3 hours your dosage is at low levels and you could have break thru seizures. I am no doctor but I have learned a lot in the 50+ years I have lived and dealt with epilepsy I hope this helps and yo uget your seizures under control and become seizure free Joe
