What type of Epilepsy do I have?

Tue, 03/20/2007 - 17:23
I was diagnosed with Epilepsy when I was about 13 or 14. I am 32 now. My siezures have always been about the same. I have had two Grand Mal siezures. My siezures occur on the right side of my body and I am aware of everything around me. I am able to talk, see, hear, and feel during my siezures. My siezures last anwhere from 30 minutes to almost 3 hours. Having several siezures throughout the day. The first siezure is usually the longest and most intense. My siezures have been increasing and the duration has been changing also. My case worker and I looked over my records. I have had several doctors, tests galore, and different medications, along with different diagnosis as to what type of Epilepsy I have. First doc said I had grand mal siezures, the other doctors have said I have something else. I haven't had a doctor that agrees to what the previous doctor has diagnosed. So my question would be... "Who am I supposed to believe?" I mean, does Epilepsy change? I really don't know. I am at a loss right now. I mean, if the docs can't agree on my condition, would that explain why the medications don't work as well as they are supposed to? Does anyone have any suggestions? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hi my nme is tori and i have similar siezures. I have had them since i was fifteen nd no doctor can truly agree on what causes them. The only thing that can agree on is calling them partial focus siezures. they say this is because only one part of the brain is having the siezure while the rest of it is functioning normally. It drives me crazy because i will be walking through my work and suddenly i cant really use my leg and my arm just starts twitching nd gets really stiff. The only thing i can do is drag my leg until i either get to a seat, have  full blown siezure, or it all just stops. I hate it because i look like some really creepy crippled person but that is something i have to take with a grain of salt and move on.

ususally they can tell you the type from whatever your EEG results say, it can tell the  locations and type you have. when was your last eeg and what was the results?
