Video EEG questions

Mon, 06/04/2012 - 13:38
Next Monday I will be going to KU Epilepsy Center for a video EEG. I've had two EEGs, two CTs, and an MRI. They've never found anything with my EEGs or my scans. Friday I also have a normal EEG. I have a few questions about the video EEG. I tried calling the epilepsy center to ask them and got voicemail. I have 1 ear piercing in my left ear and two in my right that I never take out as they tend to heal up quickly and I also have a lip piercing. Will I have to take these out for my video EEG? I don't own any retainers and will be heartbroken if my piercings heal over. I get extremely cold extremely easy. Can I bring my electric blanket or will that mess with the test? I think that's all the questions I have that you guys can answer. Thanks in advance!

Hi Jennifer my daughter had 2 video EEG's already and first of all as per hospital rules they ask you to leave all jewlery at home.  I will not worry about the electric blanket after all they take all that off the minute you start having a seizure because the doctor wants to see how your body moves while you are having the seizure.

Maybe you can take your earings and explaing to them your problem and they might let you keep them but I'm not sure.  They try to keep very comfortable as you were at home after all you spend a whole week there.  If I can help you with anything else I will be happy to answer any other question.
