Trying to figure this out:

I have had mild seizures off and on for the past 3-years (I'm 28-years-old) and have been trying to learn as much as I can. I usually go awhile without any symptoms, then I will have a few out of nowhere (like today). My symptoms are typical: - Dejavu/dream feeling - Tingling sensation - Cannot respond or do anything for about 30-seconds - Break out into a cold sweat (my face will be drenched) - Get very nauseous I first noticed the seizures when I was training for a Golden Gloves tournament (boxing) and was doing a lot of sparring. I have never been knocked unconscious in my life but I definitely took a lot of hits to the head. Once the seizures began I went to a neurologist, had an EEG, MRI, etc. and they found no abnormalities at all (no bruising, etc. from boxing... thankfully). I still train in kickboxing but I haven't sparred in over a year. Still, the seizures have returned (I've had 3 this morning after two weeks of nothing). It seems that they are caused when I am very tired or physically drained in some way, such as today where I'm running on about 3-hours of sleep. It's tough because I feel like I can't get anything done and am in a "haze" all day. I was thinking about whether or not the condition could be inherited but there is no history of seizures in my family. It didn't hit me until today when I was reading on this site about "premonitions". That's when I remembered that my dad always had these "premonitions" when he was younger and still does every now and then these days. He says he gets a very overwhelming feeling that "something bad is going to happen" and "smells something burning". He believes it is some sort of psychic ability, but I honestly think that maybe it is seizure-related. Maybe I inherited the condition from him.. even though he doesn't have definite seizures like I do? Thank you for reading and I look forward to your replies.

Hi jread, it's probably best that you don't spar to reduce your chances of getting hit in the head or knocked out! These symptoms that you have listed are all forms of auras- especially the dejavu, and the tingling. Where is it - all over, or just in the same spot each time? The symptom where you are unresponsive sounds like a seizure in itself. A friend of mine would be unresponsive for about 15 seconds, where she would still be washing dishes, or even driving (how scarry) but she can't talk, hear anyone talking to her and once she snaps out of it she has no recolection of it. If you haven't seen a doctor yet, GO! I have grand mal seizures, controlled - but I get auras too. I get a tingling in my right foot. Usually I can stop it before the seizure happens, but if I've been forgetting my medicine or stressed, or tired - I'll seize. They've gotten worse only because I've tried to self-medicate and have had more seizures as a result. People with E must get adequate sleep. Get some rest, and see a doctor! Feel free to email me at kjhlavin@hotmail.com be well.

Hello, Thank you for your reply! I did see a neurologist when this was first happening and he told me that I was definitely having seizures. He also told me to never spar again (which really sucks because I love the sport). The tingling sensation mainly happens around my head/back and it is always in the same place. When I actually go into the seizure I am unresponsive for a bit. My wife says I close my eyes, hold my head and kind of make a moaning sound. I don't hear her or respond to her, and I don't remember what was going through my mind... just that I know I had a seizure. Thankfully this has never happened when I was driving!
