Partials with face pain/ twitching

HI, everyone. I was diagnosed at age 24 after having 2 grand mals. Both started with a feeling that my lower right face was absent. I was on Tegretol until a few weeks ago (worked for a few years, but made me a zombie), after slowly switching to Lamictal. So far the lamictal isn't working any better than Tegretol, but I feel better in general. Still have 8-30 partial seizures per day that are very painful--I can no longer talk through them and feel like I go to the edge of a grand mal, then they stop. Scary. I have had such awful, spotty and superficial medical care since getting diagnosed and don't even know where in my brain the seizures are originating (frontal lobe, temporal, etc?). My last MRI and eeg was 10 years ago... I'm going in for new MRI tomorrow. Has anybody experienced seizures that manifest first in the face? If so, what kind of seizures are yours and where do they originate? Any help/advice would be much appreciated stacey

I have facial twitching and pain episodes. Diagnosed as Myofacial pain syndrome and muscle spasms. Liquid diet for 6 months. Soft food for a year. No meds work really, but accupuncutre and deep tissue neck and face massage works. Symptoms all began with a massive attack. Never been the same since. Left side pain is constant, numbness in my forhead, swollen tense cheeks, muscles pulling on the side of my mouth. Very very strange pain sensations. After 4 years of accupunture, massages, 5 meds and other therapies I have regained a normal life. Working full time, can function and talk to people now without problems. I still get some bad pain attacks and twitches but less than before. One specialist said it could be epileptic behavior.

Hi, sirk. Well, they start out like a burning/electric feeling, then progress to a twitching that feels drastic to me, but when I look in the mirror, you can hardly see them. If they are really bad, I can feel the twitching (inside my head) start to move to the left side of my face, and that's when I feel i'm in danger of getting a grand mal. I just had an MRI yesterday and the preliminary results showed nothing severe, but maybe? evidence of mesial temporal sclerosis. do you experience these?
