Need a little help on brain mapping

Thu, 06/08/2006 - 08:10
I know it sounds like I might be jumping ahead a bit. So bear with me. I've been going through the testing to see if I'm a candidate for surgery. So far, so good. Anyway, the epi's assistant was telling me about the surgery procedure, if I do end up having the surgery. She was telling me that the do the brain mapping about 3 days before the actually surgery. Anyway, here's my question. She was telling me about a panel that they put on the brain while doing the brain mapping. Does anyone know where I can find a picture of this panel? I am seeing my father this weekend and he is wanting to know what this thing looks like. :) Even though I'm a grown woman in my late 30's, I'm still his little girl and he is wanting to know. If anyone can help, thanks a bunch. Ladybug

Sure no matter if you were his little girl or not, he is concerned. You should be very happy that he is supporting you. It is a shame, when I went in for brain surgery, they took pictures of everything. They were going to put the pictures in a newsletter. They felt it was too gross to show. They gave them all to me. I have them but dont know how to place them on the computer to show you. It is like a thin strip that the electrodes get hooked too. It is like an EEG but instead of being connected to your head it is the strip inside the head. It is called a grid. SO here is a picture on a web site that is SORT of like that what it looks like. http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?_adv_prop=images&imgsz=all&imgc=&vf=all&va=grid+brain+surgery&fr=sfp&ei=UTF-8 take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

Hi Lisa, I tried getting onto the website you gave and it's not working. Do you mind resending it? Thanks so much, Keri
