My Mysterious Midlife Epilepsy

Mon, 09/19/2016 - 21:41
My first seizure came at 43. I thought it was due to a poor lifestyle, so I began eating better, stopped drinking and smoking, then just I turned 57 I had my 2nd seizure. I was not on medication when either happened; after the 2nd one I was put on Depakote. Shortly after my 61st birthday, I had another while taking a walk on my work break. What happened after the 3rd seizure was most unusual. It may have also happened after the 2nd, but it's been 5 years and I don't recall. I had what most would call a menstrual cycle at the age of 61. I had had a complete physical just 10 months prior, this is not cancerous, it's something oddly associated with my seizures. Is this a variation of catamenial epilepsy? Should I see an endocrinologist? If there was a neuro-endocrinologist in my area I would see him or her in a hot minute. Have any of the women here experienced anything like this? I have told my neurologist about this and he doesn't think there's any connection between the two events. I'm convinced there is.
