Help me find an Epileptologist please!!! I'm about ready to crawl out of my skin, these seziures are driving me mad! I just had a sleep study done (it was a sleep eeg, but they were also cheaking for apnea, so it was called a 'sleep study' *rolls eyes at the wierd thinds docs do*) Well at one time during the night I woke up and had to use the restroom, so when the tech came in he told me (unoffically, of course) that I had had three sez. in less then two hours!!!!!!!! Gahhhhh!!!!!!! It's been two years and I have been through every test known to man, but they still can't stop my sez. and I'm sick of waiting for my GP to pick the right test, its time for a specialist. Anyone know where I can find an Epileptologist near tacoma?

Hi. Try telling your g.p. that you want a refural to a epiletologist. It is deffinetly time! I'm finaly getting somewhere with the help of our cities new epiletologist whom my neuroligist recommended I see. I have seen two others but they both had to leave for some reason. Got good care from both but once they left I was left on the meds. they prescibed that helped at the time. That left me with my g.p. and loser neurologist at the time. Got a new nuerologist who is great but we had no success with meds so when this new doc. came he suggested I see him, saying that he is not extremely noligable about epilepsy, imagine a doctor admitting that, all doctors should be like that. When I saw the new epiletologist I got care and results right away. He knew just on first meeting which med was causing so many side effects and set me up for a veeg test. Now we know exactly where my seizures are coming from and I feel great since the med change. I have been set up with more tests and feel very confident with this new doctor. I'm sorry I cannot help you find one as I live in Canada, in the mean time I hope someone here can help. My best advise is though to get that refural because your doc. seems to be one of those many who cannot admit that they don't know as much as a specialist. Epilepsy is a very perplexing condition,we would'nt see a g.p as a primary doctor if we had a brain tumor or something like cancer,so why for poorly controled seizures. Hope this helps. Smiles to you and have a good day. P.S. Don't go 20 years like I have without the proper treatment!

Here are a couple of ideas for you to try: University of Washington: Epilepsy Center (206) 731-3576 Seattle, WA 98101 Swedish Medical Center: Epilepsy Center (206) 386-3880 Seattle, WA 98101 Also, you can go to the home site of epilepsy.com, and use the "find a doctor" link, which will take you to a list of members of the American Epilepsy Society (AES), in your region. Here's the link to it: http://www.epilepsy.com/dr_redirect.html Best of luck to you!! Since I live in WA state, and have a preference .... I would go to University and NOT Swedish, mind you that I have a child with epilepsy and his is only 8.5 years old. Swedish I found not friendly. And I like how the Children's Hospital (affiliated with University) treated us and worked with us.
