Lexapro and Seizures

Wed, 08/30/2006 - 23:01
I was "diagnosed" a year ago with anti-epileptic seizures. By a doctor that hardly did any tests like a MRI or Veeg etc. He was not a specialist in epilepsy. So I continue to have tonic-clonic seizures, and decided to see a psychiatrist first to get on an anti-depressant/anxiety medication called Lexapro. So I took 40mg for a month and a half, and overall my anxiety of having a seizure got better, but my seizures increased. I had 3 bad seizures within a couple of days. So now I am really confused, because wouldn't this stop this type of seizures if I really didn't have epilepsy. I am a happy go lucky girl who hasn't had anything traumatic happen in my life? So I begin to wonder if I should go to the epilepsy specialist in a couple of weeks. Or cancel the appointment, and don't worry about the second opinion. I just would rather spare the embarresment, and BILLS. Sorry for rambiling.

I think you should go to the specialist. You might find someone who can help you. I have had no luck with neurologists, but I haven't given up on finding the right one yet. Beth
