Have any of you had the electrode grid placement on the brains surface and also deep electrodes placed in the brain for a EEG study. This is what they are suggesting for my daughter. Wanted to know your experience with it. She also has a vp shunt in place for hydrocephalus.

The EEG is a test that captures the electrical impulses coming from the brain. It can only read the impulses to a certain depth of the brain. with a lot of people their EEG's come bark normal. The problem might be the impulse is deeper in the brain then the EEG reads. Amy Jo does know more about this subject then I do since I post from my own experiences. With me I always ask questions. I wanted any information on any and all possible medications and procedures that can stop all my seizures. So yes Doc and I talked about VNS and surgery and I am not a candidate for either. I hope this helps and she gets the assistance she needs and gets seizure free Joe

Like I posted you do know

Like I posted you do know more about procedures an newer things to help control seizures. Doc and I discussed the different procedures and yes even surgery. For me it is not an option since the scar tissue causing my epilepsy is in more then 1 lobe. Besides a seizure every 8-14 days lasting a few seconds is better then 2 a week lasting 5-8 minutes and another 15-45 minutes to focus
