Did I have a seizure??

Sat, 08/30/2014 - 18:19

I don't really think I have epilepsy because I had other symptoms too but I really need help!! I'm extremely scared because I think I've had a seizure but I'm not sure. So last night I was laying in bed and I got a weird sensation that ran down the left side of my body especially down my arm. The sensation would become stronger and stronger until I lost control of my body for a second and my entire body would jerk. This continued to happen over and over for 2+ minutes. I haven't told my parents yet but I am scared that something is wrong. Could this be a seizure? Please help!

It is possiably a seizure

It is possiably a seizure since there are several seizures that can be convulsive. In several convulsive seizures the person loses conciousness. There are others like focal seizures that generalize where th person knows everything that is happening but has no control. In many of my focal motor seizures I knew what was happening and heard and saw everything around me. SO yes I do know that what you posted could have been a seizure. Also know that anybody at any age can have epilepsy. It makes no difference if you are rich or poor good or bad in this country or another country. Epilepsy is more common than Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and strokes combined? Yet, little is said or writen about it, as many endure those symptoms in secret for fear of stigma. For your own safty please talk to your parents about this issue. If it was a seizure more will come and they could be stronger and more often. You could have been having other seizures without knowing it. I know I had been written up for day dreaming in class. Those day dreams were either partial seizures or absence seizures. I also had wierd feelingg and at times my right hand and arm would start to rise without me wanting it to. That was also a different seizure. Focal seizures start in one area of the brain and if they do not generalize (cover the entire brain then the only thing affected is that area that controls that part of the body. I hope this helps and you get the assistance you need Joe
