can you point me to right doctor?

My neurologist said he suspects the reason I suddenly started having these complex partial seizures at age 35 is a chemical imbalance. I'm on keppra 1000 mg a day. Its working for the most part but here I am about 5 days away from my period coming and I'm starting to feel the weird feelings. Like how I felt before I was diagnosed I'm October 2015. I think this happens about 2 weeks pre menstral. If it's a chemical or hormone problem making me feel like this which doc should I see? I want them to fix it, don't want to be on keppra forever. Do I need further testing? Do I ask my gyno, primary, neurologist or some other specialist? Thanks

I responded to your post in women with epilepsy. I also reread this post. You posted you were diagnosed in oct. which means your medications have been at levels which are low compared to mine. If the keppra has reduced the number of seizures some then the neurologist may want to increase your dosage. Medications for seizure control are not like aspirin where once it is taken it goes away after a frw hours. Theraputic levels build up in your body. The list of side effect are geberally in the first 3-4 weeks of taking it. I take 4500 mg a day and keppra not only reduced the number of my seizures it also shortened the time in those seizures. I take the maximum dosage so you are on a low dosage. I started on 3000 mg a day. Chemical imbalances do happen and a womans period does cause a imbalance, There are lot of posts in women with epilepsy section regarding this very thing, Oh and men have them too, Been there done that. Weight changes can affect the therapeutic levels too. While growing and changing to a teen I had to have my dosages changes 4-5 times in about 1 1/2 years.
