Attending Neurology?

Fri, 09/05/2014 - 18:18
I've had various EEG MRI CT all which have came back normal.Problem is I'm still having seizures. while in Emergency the other day the attending neurology had ordered an EEG Stat asy seizures have became more frequent. The EEG had came back once again normal. It was then by the attending neurology that I didn't have an seizure disorder since all my tests etc. have came back "Normal" and that my seizures is psychiatric. I don't agree at all. I had seen an neurologist who specializes in Seizures and he said I had an seizure disorder that is hard to control and that he is ordering an Video EEG for 5 to 7 days. I was wondering is it still possible to have an seizure disorder with normal results ETC. on scans and EEG studys.

It is very possiable to have

It is very possiable to have seizures when your EEG comes back normal. I had seizures when I was a teen and I also had 20-25 EEG's all come back normal. It wasn't until I was being tested and everything came back normal. The MRI of the 1960's was also normal. The last test was another EEG. It was in that EEG where I fell asleep because I was tired and I wasn't having fun in my srping break that I fell asleep. So it was the 30th or so EEG that showed abnormalities (seizure activity. By knowing where the activity was comming from the neurologists looked closer at the neuro- angeogram (old kind of MRI) that they found scared brain tissue. SO all the tests were normal except the last EEG and they found something that got overlooked. In the video EEG they will have you hooked up to a EEG where your brain waves are being taken the entire time. They are also watching you since they know what to look for. If they see activity in the EEG they will then look closer at the video so they can see if you had a seizure. Oh and absence seizures look like day dreams and other seizures are seconds long. With that information they may be able to find out a cause for your seizures. What  most people do not know is most people with epilepsy have all tests come back normal. The reason could be the abnormalities are deeper in the brain since EEG's can only go a certain depth of the brain.A question to ask is how deep in the brain do CT scans and MRI's go to get the pictures they get. If it isn't deep enough then they to will come back normal.

I do think I have basically

I do think I have basically said that since we do not know the protocals that they looked at. If it isn't deep enough then it will come back normal.
