Active Duty Epilepsy PEB

Mon, 09/21/2009 - 19:28

Hi, I'm an E-4, Sonar Tech Submarines in the USN right now and I'm in the middle of my IPEB process. I've had 34 grand mal seizures, plus I have eye witnesses from my girlfriend and brother plus a sleep test showing that I have seizures in my sleep and I have petit seizures who knows how often. I've broken my neck in two places and had stitches in four places on my face and broke three teeth from grand mal seizures. My seizures have gotten to the point where they last over five minutes and my doctor says that isn't good, my longest seizure was 18 minutes long and they had to bring me back. This has all occured since April of 2008 and I was curious what you think the VA and the USN would rate my disability?

My doctor says my epilepsy is caused by stress, but I don't think thats what is causing it. Anything you guys would have to input would be very helpful. Thanks in advance

Hello, I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me how long did the process take from lodging your claims to you receiving a decision? My fiancee is going through the process, but yet to be MEB boarded. Now he tells me that he might get put on TDRL yet. Is this the norm? (TDRL) for seizures cases? The waiting is a killer. Thanks everyone.

 Sabrina

It's impossible how long the VA will take for any thing

They do what they want any time they want

Total from the time I applied till I was comped ( Was out of Military) was 9 years

I have seen some that it has taken longer then this & some rather quickly

For expert help go to hadit.com as these people are very good

 As I advised kyle above

Oh ya, it took me 9 years & a Lawyer to get comped

Has he put in for SS yet?

 Kyle,

I can tell U all about VA Disability concerning Epilepsy but I would assume U will be getting Medical Military Retirement & reallt am unsure of the numbers on that

I can tell U 100% is where U want to be, On VA Comp. even 90% is not that great

If the percentage they give U is not what U think U deserve bitch about it & contact someone who can help U. Hey, it took me 9 years to get comped for Epilepsy

OK.. Heres a site U can access ( I use it all the time) to find out all U want to know about any subject military & the talent on this site is awsome ( hadit.com)

Best forum is " Claims & research"  here U will find all kinds of questions ( Which U can research) & also U can ask any question U need answered & I guarntee it will be answered

Another is "VAWatchdog.com"  I don't use that one a lot but it has a lot of information

Any questions contact me at gdsnide@hotmail.com.... Please put in Vet/Seizure as I delete any mail if I have no idea of the source

hadit will give U all U need to know
