Hi Haley, That must have been a frightening experience for you! I'm glad you were able to get to the bed and lay down. I think you did the right thing. If you have aura's, try to stay calm and make it safely to a place you can lay down. Make sure it is somewhere that you are not likely to hurt yourself, such as on sharp edges of furniture, etc. If you have time, call a family member, a neighbor, or someone that knows about your epilepsy and who knows how to care for you during a seizure. As far as the jaw twitching, my right cheek and lip begin to twitch untrollably before some of my seizures. Bless you, and hang in there. This is a great site to get information on. Boy, that does sound scary! You are lucky, however, that you have a good amount of time in your aura, to prepare for the tonic-clonic. You did the right thing, by going to lay down quickly. Good job! In the future, you do want to make sure that the bed isn't too high or next to sharp (or hard-edged) furniture. If the floor is carpeted, and relatively clear of furniture, maybe you can just lay down there. I wouldn't fear being alone, at this point, but it wouldn't hurt to have a cell phone w/ you at all times...so if you are in trouble, you can call for help. Maybe you can put a couple of trusted friends and family members on speed dial. HUGS! Heather :)
