Man i jusut hate this i just had my 3rd tonic seizuer today (4/30/05) for the past 2 years. I had one last January, and another one last april. I just plain hate them.its just so scarry waking up on the floor wile surounded by paramedics or in an ambulence. On my last 2 I had a huge bruse on my head, and toung I also vomited. This time i pulled a leg mussel and now it hurts to walk. its been 6 hours sine i was released from the hospital and my head still hurts. I belive that this time it was caused by sleep deprivation, and stress. I just wish that these could just stop. i'm just 15 years old and i just don't wnat to miss any more school. (Heak of a bad way to spend a saturday!)

Hi Amrou, For an observer, tonic clonic seizures can look very violent. Take a look at the following for a brief description: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/seizure_tonicclonic.html. I my daughter's case, she goes through a brief "stiffening" phase (tonic), where her entire body stiffens up. This is followed by the "convulsing" phase (clonic). Her arms and legs jerk violently, all in one seemingly same pattern. You cannot "force" her limbs to be still . Her face contorts, she has difficulty breathing, and she sometimes foams at the mouth. While it seems as if it lasts for ever, it is usually over after about 2 minutes. After the seizure, her body is totally limp, and she is non-responsive for periods of time. I think it hurts me to watch, more than it hurts her to go through them. Her only complaint afterwards is of a headache, sometimes, adn severe lethargy. Hi, I'm Liz. I had around 3 seizures in 2005 also. I had one in may, like a week before i went to a concert. I then had one that i don't remember the exact day. Then I actually had one the day before my sophmore year started(Sept 1 2005) I actually either bled or puked up blood during one that I actually had in front of my friends. I know what it is like to wake up surrounded by paramedics or a friends parent, or even waking up when your all alone at your house, on the floor. I have never hurt my self in a very serious way during those three but i have fallen off of somthing during all of them, the may one i fell of my friends couch and almost hit my head on the metal and glass table, which would've cut my head wide open. I started have the tonic seizures in october of 2003, my first one was during my 8th grade chorus class. If you want to contact me or just talk email me at factatroseys@hotmail.com
