My daughter and new seizures. Once a month after her period

Sat, 06/10/2017 - 18:46
I'm wondering if there are recognized experts in catamenial seizures? My daughter has been seizure free for years but now has had one a month for the last five months. I am now tracking it I believe they are all at the end of her cycle. She is AED free and I'd love to know if we can attempt to ease the hormonal surges for her. I looked at her today and saw that she had broken out on her face and back and I just knew she was having a hormonal surge and was going to have one and she did. We live in Washington DC.

Hello! I'm 27, my seizures

Hello! I'm 27, my seizures started when I was 13 the month after I started my period (the week I was on it) Have you tried magesium? You can buy the powder form and mix it into drinks or try taking high doses of the capsules! Magnesium helps balance pms/cramps/etc for women in general and I've seen it really help me when it comes to how I feel around my period. I no longer feel the spike in hormones causing a spike in my auras/small seizures. There's a lot of new research out about it and how magnesium effects the brain, it seems that a lot of people with epilepsy are magnesium deficient.  @Hilary Benoit Worth a shot! I'm starting a blog about all of the medications I've tried and vitamins/home therapies that seem to help me out. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
