Can it go away?

Sun, 05/06/2007 - 19:16
Hi... I was diagnosed with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy in October, and it totally was nothing I could have ever expected or been ready for. Remembering to take my medication every 12 hours has been a struggle. The thing about medication is I know theres a lot of things that don't work well with it, such as alcohol, birth control, or even being pregnant one day. I know I am young, and that it's a bit early to think of this, but I don't want something to be wrong with my kids! I think in the future, and I want to know, does epilepsy ever settle? is it something that ur body might grow out of? The fact that I didn't have my first seizure until I was 15 makes me think that it might disappear again, will it? Am I going to be on seizure meds until the day that I die?

I'm 15, and I'm on 150mg Lamictal. I mean it works well, I had two grande mal seizures before being diagnosed and since being on the meds I haven't had any, and no myoclonic jerks either. I just want to know if this is what I'm going to depend on for the rest of my life. and are these seizures meds unhealthy for a future baby?
