Thanks barbie you seem so positive and so calm about all this stuff. I just worrie of the effects i might have from the surgey. My surgen said you can lose your voice for 2-3 weeks or more but its not perment and he said i could just be really horse for awhile to. He said that no he does not turn it on that day i see my docter two weeks after and he turns it on. The surgen said he will test it but then turn it off. your not alone!

I know exactly how you feel, worrying about the possible side effects, etc. It was a big worry to me before hand, and now it's just kind of "part of my re-defined normal". I have heard about people losing their voice for a short time, and have been really lucky not to experience that. Like I said, I get hoarse, or my voice gets a little lower sometimes when it goes off. All in all, the side effects that I have experienced from the VNS are much less than what I experience with the medications. I do think I am finally seeing some benefits, when I use the magnet if I feel a seizure coming on. It seems like it might be stopping some of my seizures - which would be such a blessing if it continues. And finally, a sense of some control over this stuff !! WOW !! That's a new feeling altogether. I know your surgery is coming up next week, and I will be thinking positive thoughts about you. I'll be anxious to hear from you when you feel up to it!
