weird sleep and epilepsy

I'm new to all this so sorry if I'm retreading something that's already been discussed. In addition to having what seem like complex partial seziures when I'm awake, I've been having a related problem in the mornings. Some mornings nothing will wake me up short of a loud noise (louder than an alarm clock) or physically shaking me. Some mornings I _seem_ to wake up but eventually, even as much as an hour and a half later, I fall back asleep. Afterwards I don't remember anything that goes on during the between-sleep periods. For example, this morning I woke up, finally, during a loud thunderstorm. After that I remember eating breakfast, but I don't remember how I got to work. I remember needing to call my health insurance company at work, but I am not sure this conversation ever took place. I remember lying on the couch at work (it's a small, cozy place and they have things like couches) and then nothing until a half-hour later, when I sat up. This sleep stuff, needless to say, is really freaking me out. Is it seizure-related? Has anyone experienced this? I can't seem to find any info on this event, and I get normal, full nights of sleep. Any ideas? Nicholas

It happened again this morning; I had to wake up at 5 to catch a plane and I did "wake up" but had what seems to be an "intellectual aura" in the means of the phrase "the film cause" and permutations of it stuck in my head for a long time--then at the airport I was sitting right at the terminal and nearly missed my flight. I passed out as soon as I sat down on the plane and woke up a few hours later feeling fine. The aura part of it makes me inclined to think that there's epileptic activity at the site of the brain where sleep/wake functions lie, but that could be way off. Especially because of the forced thoughts. (Shrug) I'm still looking around for info. I'm supposed to have a video EEG on Monday though I am more afraid of doctors and hospitals than I am of seizures. It's nice being in southern California, though. And, as everybody says to me: it could be worse.
