Symptoms of Epilepsy

I am not sure if I actually have this but need some guidance. For the past couple of years, I have these strange dizzy spells, which feel like "deja vue". I feel as if whatever I'm doing at the present time I've done before and it rushes back to me, then I get really dizzy, lose control of my speech, cannot think straight or function for several minutes. Most of the time I have been alone when this happens. Afterwards, I am really tired and out of it for several days, everything tastes and smells funny. Could this be a sign of epilepsy? I've been to several doctors and they do not feel it is anything to worry about-they say it could be stress, but I am not stressed that much over anything at the present time. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cathy, I also had very similar experiences for about 2 yrs and looked for answers in all kinds of web sites and with doctors, many said it may be hormonal or stress and other things, I was eventually having 1-4 maybe more a day. When I eventually read a posting about a Partial/Complex Partial temporal lobe seizure I knew what had been happening. I also lose speech and even though I believe I understand and am aware through other people viewing and describing to me what has taken place I realize I am not, also I am was really tired afterwards. I would continue describing the deja vu and keep a journal for your doctor, also if you could warn someone when this is about to happen (perhaps a signal) and they could watch you this might help. My diagnosis came about when I had a grand mal seizure in my sleep. Although this was really bad, it helped me to finally understand what was taking place. I wish you lots of luck and continue your search. Keep coming to this web site also I find a lot of support and good information here. Rita~

I just spent an entire day in Deja vu. I have gotten this sometimes never to quite this extreme of a situation where the entire day I knew everything that was going to happen ahead of time. It was weird. Diagnosed with Myoclonus... Andrew Strasser
