Hi I joined this website to find out what somone thinks of what I feel like who has actually been dignosed with epilepsy. I have had three funny turns as I call them, the second time I went to the doctor and explained what had happened and he was really not alot of use. What happens is, It feels as If somone has got hold of my head and shoke it quickly forward and back, then I go complety dizzy feel really odd,I am aware of my husband talking to me but I don't feel like Im there with him, I feel sick, have to sit with my head back agaist the sofa untill the spinning stops, I always cry after as It scare me, I then feel really heavy and drained and go to bed, the next day I feel do odd and not with it and friends have said that I look really spaced out.The last one happened whilst on the computer. One friend thinks it's a sezuire but wouldn't the doctor thought of that? I don't know what to do, can anyone tell me if they think it could be epilepsy or totally not?I just would like advice from somone who knows. Many Thanks xx

I agree with fxMousie. I think you should go to the doc with your notes. Just a warning, Neuros are unfeeling, cold beings (my experience), so don't expect sympathy or comfort. But they are very smart with lots of seizure experience, so give him/her the facts and listen to what he has to say. Getting sz under control is just a giant experiment. I know how you both feel... I remember when I was a teenager, thinking that my sister (who always had a cruel sense of humor) was slipping some sort of drug into my drinks to make me feel the way I was feeling. Turns out...Epilepsy! Sorry Sis! Please let us know what the doc says! If you can, bring a witness. CaraDee

Thank you to you and everyone else who has replyied to me, I really appreciate all your feed back. I have made an appointment to see my doctor, not the one who I saw before!! I will be seeing her next week, I will take my diary and information and wont leave her untill I have got some answers or asking for tests. I will let you all know how I get on. It has really helped me to be listened to without people thinking I am mad!! I am so glad I joined this site. Thank you again. I would like to second fzmousies recommendation that you go ahead and see a neuro as soon as possible, and take your diary along. The diary should include all information you can think of pertaining tothe day of the event, day before, and even day after. i.e. was it time for your monthly cycle, any particular stress, any illnesses, any meds you are on (including vitamins and herbals), and how you felt the day after the event. Many of these may help in diagnosis. A good neuro will listen to all of your experiences, review your notes, and then talk to you about available testing, preferably an EEG first. Prior to your visit, I would also recommend that you do some research about epilepsy at the main site http://www.epilepsy.com/ Here are some good links from the site: All about epilepsy and seizures Paying particular attention to types of seizures Diagnosis You will see several steps that need to be taken in most cases to determine if it is in fact epilepsy The main site has lots more interesting articles that should help you prepare for your visit. As you go thru the site, you may come up with questions you want to ask the neuro. By all means, write them down in a logbook, take them with you, and ask. YOU ARE THE PATIENT !! Don't forget that !!
