Has anyone tried Vimpat yet?  If so, will you share your experiences with it (good and bad), decision to take it or not, etc.?  My doctor wants me to switch to it.  Thanks so much!

I have been on carbamazepine

I have been on carbamazepine for 30 years and it has worked well.  In my early 50's I had a few seizures and upped my dosage and I have been seizure free ever since.  Maybe once every 3 weeks I get what I call a 'bad head day' where it is difficult to follow conversations and get out the right words.  Otherwise, no problems UNTIL I got the welcome to 50 package which included a bone density test and I was not even on the chart.  The answer was to put me on Fosamax which has its own issues.  Now I am 65 and finally got that broken arm.  Research into the carb shows it is a member of a group of enzyme producing anti-epileptics that causes osteoporosis.  Of course, no one told me about this possibility. The ones that don't are lamotrigine, leviracetan, topirimate and - Vimpat.  I am looking into changing in a few months to Vimpat.  It is favored by my neurologist of all of those  mentioned.  However, after reading all of your reviews, I don't know if I should.  I have been able to drive all of these years and cannot imagine having to give that up.  I haven't driven for 6 months because of the broken arm and I am almost insane.  I am thinking maybe I can do something about the osteoporosis and still stay on the carbamazepine since it works so well for me.
