Trileptal and Heart Rate Suppression/Blackout

Fri, 07/01/2005 - 16:14

Took my nightly dose of Trileptal (just switched from Tegrotol a week ago) and proceeded to being working out about an hour later, hitting a heavy bag (high impact workout).  After 15 minutes, I still had PLENTY of gas, where normally I would be exhausted, as I am overweight.  I went back to continue working out, and proceeded to pass out, crash to the cement floor and fracture my eye socket.  No aura, no tongue bite, etc. that has been typical with my prior seizures.  Any ideas on what the heck happened?

Had an EEG a couple days later, and am still waiting for the results to be read, but the girl that took it said it looked normal...

Trileptal causes Low Sodium

Submitted by angel_lts on Fri, 2005-09-16 - 06:45
So many people dont realize or know that it can cause low sodium. It does not happen to everyone. When my dose is on a high level I have problems with low sodium. Yes I have had grand mals because of this problem and I have complex partials. When the level is low, which it is now, I dont have this problem. So we are keeping the level low because of the low sodium issue. I get blood work every two weeks. And if I have a grand mal I go right the next day to see if it was the sodium that caused it. I drink gatorade when I feel I am low, because I may have a munch of auras. Or eat some salty foods Take care lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/
