Topamax vs Lamictal

I have been on Lamictal for about five months now. I am currently on 250mg of Lamictal twice a day, 200 mg of Tegertol, twice a day. I used to be on 100 mg of Dilantin in the morning, 200 mg of Dilantin at night.
Ever since I have been on Lamictal, I have lost weight, got low blood sugar, and seemed to have lost energy.
I called the doctor amnd he is now going to take me off Lamictal and put me on Topamax. He also wants me to go back on Dilantin, on the dose that I used to be on Before all of this.
I feel he is going to use the Dilantin until I go on Topamax. I am wondering if anyone has been on any of these drugs, and would like to hear anything about Topamax and how it has worked you.

i was taken off carbatrol(tegretol) and put on lamictal because it's better for JME... the lamictal has help control my myoclonic jerks much more than the carbatrol even though I had a seizure in march after being seizure free for 5 years and 10 months. The biggest downside is I have b12 deficiency anemia and have to take a lot of vitamins so i don't have to get injections :( Come to think of it I did lose 15lbs but I was a workout fiend also and really got in shape. Not sure if it has anything to do with the lamictal-- interesting.
