strange happenings with my mouth

Tue, 09/20/2005 - 10:38
I have more questions for you guys..have any of you ever had any problems with your jaw before..as in i guess u could call them jaw spasms..most of them i feel as though I am yawning, and then my mouth begins to chatter..it has started happening more frequently, on Sunday i had a bout for about 15 seconds..there is a thing called TMJ which has to do with the jaw's connection to the skull being misaligned, and i know my mom has this..but usually I exeperience a lot of dizziness afterwards and sometimes feel these things coming on. and i have bit my tongue before doing so. i have told people about it before, and these are people who do have seizure disorders and it surprised them..this is something that started about a month ago..I have an upcoming appt. with my neuro on the 27th of this month, I guess I have something else to add to my list..since I was released from the hospital in July for my latest vEEG, i have had 2 times where i have awoken around 3:30 am-ish having to use the bathroom because my bladder felt like it would explode..with one of these episodes i woke up nauseas also and i was able to eventually get back to sleep and later in the morning when I woke my lower inside lip was bit..the other time i woke up around 3:30am-ish again with my bladder screaming and i laid down to try to go to sleep and eventually got nauseas enuff that i was in the bathroom dry heaving and i wasn't able to sleep at all the rest of the day. both times, especially the first, people around me observed me acting strangely and being off balance and seeming intellectually "slow". the first time around i wasn't feeling back to normal for a week and was acting oddly for about 3 or 4 days...the second time around was only for a day or so that anyone observed me being "out of it." my energy levels have sank a little more too. I hope to GOD i get some answers soon because this is obviously scaring the heck out of me. if anyone has any idea of what this mouth stuff could be, let me know..

i've never really had

i've never really had problems with my jaw smelling or clicking out of place..i have had pains around my temporal areas but my jaw itself never has a problem, but i know they are connected n that area obviously..i have some of the symptoms listed with TMJ in this huge book I have called the Prescription for Natural Healing, which has info on just about any medical condition/occurence on earth. A lot of the symptoms suprisingly seem to match up with those of epilepsy...stuff like dizziness, headaches, those sorts of things that people with E experience all the time....i don't actually have any jaw problems..i am just fishing for anything, but i highly highly doubt it's TMJ..i don't think i would have after effects from my mouth chattering if it was something with TMJ..i do get pain in the ear area there but i never have problems with opening or closing my mouth, my jaw does pop once in a great while but almost everyone has that happen at some point. I hope u get some answers soon, the last time I was in the hospital I got my neuro telling me I wasn't having seizures, one neuropsychologist telling me we may never know, and the other neuropsychologist saying she believes that I am having seizures at some point but just not having any of the epileptic variety at any point during EEG's...and the neuropsychological testing with all the different cognitive skills, especially with short term memory, seems like it would support there being a neurological problem but that's just me..my spatial and mathematic skills lag way behind my verbal skills..i was diagnosed witH ADD/ADHD years and years ago and I did find out several months ago that people with that are more pre-disposed to epilepsy. I guess I don't buy that a learning disability picks and chooses specific parts of the brain, this was diagnosed in the late 80's, early 90s back when they would have never thought anything of something neurological when i was zoning out all the time..i believe there was something wrong way before my grand mal last year..i will check out the page u put up
