Side effects of Lamictal

Thu, 08/11/2005 - 20:15
I was wondering if anyone has heard of anyone on Lamictal getting Hypoglycemia or having the effects of Hypoglycemia?A couple of times since I been on this medication, I felt dizzy and was wondering if this is a side effect of the medication or if I did have low blood sugar cause of maybe too much medication. I had to start eating every two hours.I am on Lamictal, 250 mg, and Tegertol, 200 mg twice a day. I have to cut one pill in half. I been on this medication for about 3 months now, was on Dilantin with other meds. Erik

Hi Corey  Number of years

Hi Corey  Number of years have spaced since your comments but I am like you. I was on Lamictal 300mg bd but I got the same seizure, down the same road at the same hill. The solution was to put the med up to 600mg bd. That did not work so the change was going to be to 800mg bd TEGRETOL but remain on LAMICTAL dropping to 25mg.  I decided to just go down to 25mg LAMICTAL. I told my wife to walk me as I slept that night. Little did I know what was going to happen. 6 full seizures. A bit of a shock but there are no real warnings as to what to expect.  Anyone, I no longer that either drug, just as I did before I started taking them 10 years ago.  So I am waiting to see what happens next,  So if you do decide to come off the drugs, have someone watching over you for 48 hours(you will remember nothing), hospital maybe a good place.

I have the same problem. I

I have the same problem. I have to eat every two hours or I get nauseous. I also get really drowsy, I need sugar to help me last the day. Like eating a small candy bar helps alot in my energy. Lamictal makes me really sleepy, and if I have over a glass of alcohol in one hour, I can hardly stay awake I get so tired. I have learned to eat every two hours, my work is okay with me taking a 5-10 break to eat something real quick. Hope you find a way that helps you.
