Sex Drive

Mon, 12/20/2004 - 10:21

Hi all,

I have suffered from Grand Mal seizures since my mid teens, and have been on Epilim Chrono (when I lived in the UK) and more recently, Valproic Acid in Canada.

I have noticed a huge drop in my libido and am concerned as to wether it may be the medication.

Does anyone else out there have any knowledge or experience of this?

Thanks,

James

It IS possible to take meds (at least a lot of Lamictal for me) and have an active sex life which is mutually satisfying. I am very happy with mine. Sweet notes, funny cards, complements, hugs and backrubs all help. I was worried that my wife would be less attracted to me because of my violent gm's. I wondered if she would be afraid to still be intimate but it hasn't been a problem. Good luck everyone. It's still possible.

Yes it could be the meds. Certain meds can make you loose your sex drive. I am taking a natural progesterone to help. But I am still working with it. And men get loss of homones.http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/Lisa

Mine has been decreasing over the last few years as well. I am on 4 meds for my seizures at this point and feel it has a large part to do with my sex drive.
