Keppra and pain or swelling in joints?

Wed, 05/13/2009 - 15:20

  Hi,

I started to take Keppra (50mg twice a day) for a few months. I have taken Dilantin and have a VNS for many years now.  After I started to take Keppra all was great at first. Well, now my joints are starting to be very painful. Just to close my hand to make a fist is becoming more painful. Never had this problem before I started Keppra. This is why I am questioning the Keppra.

Is anyone else have this type of problem with like this?

Thanks for any info you may have on this. no alleykat

I think for this medication

I think for this medication the key is to make sure that you get enough sleep so that constantly tense muscles are allowed to relax, regenerate and recover after being highly fatigued from use while either at rest or action. My recommendation is to find a singular agent to take once at bedtime, get adequate rest, moderate exercise, a good diet and go from there before you start changing your meds around. I use Seroquel he only.  be cautious certain medications could alter the efficacy of this medication.  Seroquel does not.

I have been off Keppra for about 5 years now but I continue to have increasingly worse joint pain. Does anyone else have joint pain even after going off of it?

Have your symptoms continued even though you've been off of it?
