Hello Tegretol takers!
Mon, 07/30/2007 - 19:01Topic: Medication Issues
Are you craving salt too?
Are you supplementing with the vitamin Folic acid?
Besides this vitamin, I'd like to know if Tegretol is to blame for any other vitamin deficiencies...anyone know?

Hiya everyone
In reply to one of the messages above. The anti-convulsant medication Tegretol depletes Folic Acid in the body and that is the reason why the Neurologist then Prescribes the med to patients who take it has an extra supplement.
I hope this information helps in some way.

What instantmagic said is true. I also take folic acid along with my medication, reason being that tegretol absorbs folic acid in our daily intake from food. so even if you are not planning on having children, it is good for our own diet. But it will certainly come handy if you do decide to have children one day :-)
