Hair Loss and AEDs!
Fri, 09/11/2009 - 11:28I am trying to find a different seizure medication with fewer side effects. I can't take Dilantin or Keppra, for some reason my body won't tolerate them. I am on Topamax 100mg daily (50/50). I have lost lots of hair. ...Enough to make 2 wigs. I am lucky that I had extremely thick hair a year ago.
But enough is enough...is ANYONE out there familiar with a medication that DOESN'T cause hair loss?

There is a over-the-counter shampoo you can get from your local drugstore named: Mane n' Tail which helps with growing your hair. It's approximately 9.99 but well worth the price.
Also, there are treatments for hair loss like DO GRO etc... they can be found at places like Winners & Marshalls. As long as the product is vitamin based and has pro-vitamin B5 and other such B vitamins.

My dermatologist told me to take biotin 3000 mg a day, i take it in capsules. My hair loss is less then before, but it doesnt seem to be growing, which doesnt help!
