I was wondering if anyone had any experience of the drug interactions between St John's Wort. I get seasonal depression but i still have to take carbamazepine to control my seizures. Thanks

Hi Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. I asked some other people I know with epilepsy this question and they suggested I ask my doctor to check my vitamin D levels too.

Hi.. As one who has been on

Hi.. As one who has been on Tegretol (aka carbamazepine) for decades, I'd highly recommend you take a daily dose of calcium and vitamin D, to prevent osteoporosis (known to be caused by Tegretol). You might want to ask your specialist about what dose they'd recommend for your age. Btw: Here is some info on St John's Wort http://www.herbfacts.co.uk/sjw.php "If you are taking prescribed medicines, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking St John’s Wort. Do not take together with other anti-depressant drugs. Do not take with the following; warfarin, cyclosporine, oral contraceptives, NOTE--> anti-convulsants, digoxin, theophylline, HIV protease inhibitors, triptans and SSRI anti-depressants." hope that helps, ~sol
