Anyone on Lamictal AND Keppra?

Thu, 11/20/2008 - 10:50

Just come back from seeing my doctor (not 100% happy with how the appointment went, and was basically told despite my last EEG being 13 years ago, which they have lost the results to, it's gonna be hard to get me another one because of restrictions put on referals due to funding! I'm in the UK, incidentally), and I have been put on Keppra as well as my current med, Lamictal.

I'm on 150mg Lamictal in the morning, and 100mg at night. And we're starting off the dose of Keppra slowly, obviously.

So...my question is to anyone taking both - how do you find it? What about side effects? Lamictal, for me, contrarily, has increased my appetite, and I'm deathly scared of Keppra adding to this.

Any input would be fab. Thanks guys!

I also have generalized epilepsy. Im on levetiracem 1500mg morning 2000mg night and lamotrigine 300 morning and night. Its hard to keep still when i talk to people. It could just be nervousness.  My Memory isnt the greatest. About 6 months ago my lamotrigine dosage increased and ive had mood swings since. Im also looking into having children. Im 28 years old. had issues trying to get pregnant? And any problems with the child having learning disabilities or anything like that?

I have juvenile mycolonic

I have juvenile mycolonic epilepsy. For about 10 years I have been on lamotrigine and keppra. Was previously on epilem and that was horrible. Lamictal makes me drowsy and I get numbness along side of my hands. Keppra was introduced at a low level and seems to assist well. I dont get jerks or seizures. I had a child at 24, had to take extra vitamins (from memory I think i took vitamin k throughout the pregnancy) and twerk my meds throughout the pregnancy and regular ultra sounds/bloods etc. Wouldnt advise breastfeeding on any meds..fed is best. Overall for myself the combination has worked wonders. Lamotrigine on its own was okay but never quite stopped the myoclonic jerks.
