Absence Seizures (Generalised)

Sun, 08/27/2006 - 21:40
Hi, I'd like to know if anyone suffers from Absence Seizures (Generalised) e.g. Petit Mal and Grand Mal, either from early childhood through to adulthood and whether you have found success or seizure control with any one drug or drugs in combination, prescribed. Also would be interested to know of anyone who has Petit Mal seizures more than the Grand Mal seizures or vice versa. Thank you and I look forward to a response.

Hello, My son was diagosed with absence seizures almost 3yrs ago, he is now 4 yrs old. He has only had 1 Grand Mal. We had been controlling them up until 6 mos. ago. He is on Keppra, we just tried trileptal. That one failed terribly. Now his DR is talking about surgery.

Hello, Thank you for reply. Gee 4 yrs old, poor thing. I hope that his specialist, neurologist etc has done all necessary tests e.g. EEG, bloods, CT scan, MRI to justify surgery at such a young age as any type of brain surgery is a very serious and complexed operation. I also hope that you have sought a 2nd opinion and hope that your little boy becomes seizure free real soon. Susan.
