Why do I have more seizures in the morning than at night? (Petit mal).

Sat, 08/06/2011 - 17:12

I am curious about this, why do I have more seizures in the MORNING than at night. I wake up sometimes and have none but other times a good few. And this drives me freakin nuts. It's mostly right after I wake up say about 10-15 minute range when I'm getting dressed or just coming downstairs. But at night, I have no seizures what so ever. And I'm 15 and going to be 16 in Feburary and want to learn how to drive, I have an EEG on the 23rd of August and I hope then to get things cleared up so in a year or so when I'm going into grade 11 I can drive.

MEDICATION AT MOMENT:

Clobazim-seizures not totally gone.

Medication before Clobazim-

Vlaproic Acid-seizures went away but had side effects (go figure).

Just please answer the main question: why more in the morning than at night?

VPA-a nasty drug if I may say so.

I am 23, Yes I wish I had my drivers licence, my siblings and cousins and parents all have their licence and no one takes pity and drives me places and they spend the first year of each rubbing it in my face. For about the first year after they get their learners and then their licence and then here we have what is called a graduated drivers license (ypu have to have you drivers licence for so long before you test for that. It basically means you cant drive between 11pm and 5am and you can only get 2 demerits...or you start all over again and re test for your drivers lincesne, they take it away.I dont know where you live or the regulations for getting you learners permit or drivers licence or both. But where I live I have to go currently 2 years, its about to get bumped up to 3 without a seizure to get a learners permit, I am lucky to go a day. and then wait a year to get drivers, and another year for graduated. But if I have seizure they will take everything away and I have to start at the bottom again waiting 3 years without a seizure. You need to go though doctors testing every year just to keep it.

Back to seizures.  Anyway so on VPA your seizures were 100% controled or just mostly controled. A lot of when your seizures are in most people have to with medication wearing off and the next dose not either yet being taken or not been in your system long enough. One thing you also talk to your doctor about is changing the time that you take your medication at, that plays a big role. I have a lot seizures in the morning between 7-830. I take my medication at 8am 2pm and 8pm
