How often do YOU have seizures?

Mon, 03/26/2007 - 19:22
i know all epilepsy cases are different, I have petit mals, simple and complex partials, myoclonic (twitches and tics), and now i might possible be having grand mals in my sleep. apparently I've had epilepsy my whole life (17 years) and i was only just recently diagnosed. I ask other people about their epilepsy and they say they only have about one bad seizure a day/week/year etc... I have about 20-50 different recurring seizures a day. and my response to that from some people is shocked and they feel bad for me. I don't know if this is normal since i am so new to all of this. So i'm asking, How often do you have seizures?

Wow, that's a bit sad to hear that you have so many seizures in one day. Before I got the right meds for my seizures, I used to have about 3-4 per day on different days of the week. They came quite unknown. But now I only get it like once a month. But if I have a seizure on one day, another always comes a few hours after it. It gets quite irritating. The longest I've gone without seizures is 2 in a half months. Hope you're doing well. God bless. ~Soph

Hello. Please don't feel alarmed. You are not alone. My daughter is 5 and she was diagnosed with Frontal Lobe Epilpsy in December. Her meds aren't right yet, so it is normal for her to have 20 or so partial seizures a day. Quit normal for her type of epilepsy. Thanks. blueheeler1998

Hello mydogistoocute, Everybody is differant. And how many seizures you will get a day is based on you and your treatment. I hope you have a nerologist for your dr. now that you have been diagnosed with Epi. Some advice please please do not listen to what other people say. They will only scare you. If you have questions or concerns call your dr. they can give the correct answers. My daughter can have 200 seizures a day, based on the type of epi she has. When I tell this to others they go crazy. But its not that big of a deal according to her nero. We are now on a new medication and the seziures are better. Be strong keep your self informed learn all that you can about the type of epi you have. Good luck and remember you have epi, epi does not have you. Teresa
