Hi Tanya. Heart palpatations are scary,I have had them for years along with chest tightness. A year or so ago I asked my doc. about it and she said it is normal sometimes.I always brushed it of as being somewhat over weight, poor diet, lack of exercize and smoking. Then at my epilotologist appointment I asked him if it could be a side effect of my meds,he said not usualy. He listened to my heart for quite some time then told me it sounds like a pulmonary leakage, which means the pulmonary valve is not closing all the way causing some blood to flow back. He further said that there is'nt realy anything they do about it but antibiotics are a have to before any dental treatment or surgery or you could have a problem. Hope this does'nt scare you but it may be a good idea to push the issue with your doc. I will be having a echocardiogram to confirm this then I will know what to do. Let me know if you have more questions and how you are. Take care and smiles. Linda

There are times that I wake up w/ my heart beating fast like this morning. This is due to low blood sugar which I am dealing with at this time. The low sugar can result in seizures. This is called Hypoglycemia, and doctors tend to forget about this disorder. In the mornings, drink a glass of juice as soon as you get up and the carbohydrates will enter your blood system in approximately 15 -20 minutes. Your brain will get the glocose that is craving for resulting increased heart rate. At bedtime, eat a little snack to last overnight--this is due to nocturnal hypoglycemia (we do not eat while we are sleeping (smile). Don't let anyone scare you. Just eat your meals on a regular schedule and you will notice the change. Also, increased exercise does LOWER your blood sugar including maybe rushing in the morning to get dressed to go. Hang in there.
