What is that ticking noise?

Thu, 08/18/2005 - 09:15
Every now and then, when it's quiet, I hear a "tick tick tick" in my ear. Such a light sound, in fact that if music was playing I wouldn't even hear it.When I say "light" - I mean LIGHT! It's not a loud ticking sound like a clock. It's like someone is taking their fingernail and flicking it. But much more lighter than that. It's not constant. It just happens in groups of 3 or 4 or so.WHAT IS THAT???I've only noticed it since I've been on the meds. Or maybe it's happened before that.Anyone familiar?Oh ya...And what about when you go deaf in one ear all of a sudden or it suddenly feels like everything sounds far away. Anyone hear of that?I've been recently diagnosed with Epilepsy 1 month ago.Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Probably not Tinnitus, there

Probably not Tinnitus, there's a cavity in the inner ear called Tympani and the clicking noise is a tiny muscle vibrating. Something as normal as breathing, yawning or even eating can set the muscle into spam which is causing the ticking noise. Hope this is of some help.

Hello im new and seeking

Hello im new and seeking answers about my epilepsy that so far not even the docotors haven't been able to explain... I came across this site while seeking an answer as to why I've always had this clicking or soft continuing tap in my right ear... I have for as long as i can rembember ( about age 4 or 5 ) whenever any news broadcast comes on t.v. the sound would be so annoying i would almost cry... After reading what was shared by everyone it would make since if I had been born with epilepsy, but mine is due to a brain injury that happened at age 19... My mother and myself have been seeking the answer as to why this happens since my childhood. If you have any advice or any suggestions, please help... Thanks

I have done al the things you said and it deosn’t work. Every time I hear the ticking it just wont stop It goes on for the entire night. Sometimes I even have to start watching videos at like 3:00 of the night so that I can stop hearing it but it still continues after I turn off my phone
