Vision, Hearing, Smell, other Senses Heightened?

Fri, 05/28/2010 - 17:46

A coassociate and I were talking today and I told him sometimes I wish my Superman-like vision and hearing could be toned down just a bit and my memory improved.  By "Superman-like", I mean that I can hear things others find inaudible because they arent very loud, and I can see things clearly very far away.

He said he wondered if that had anything to do with my E--maybe other people with E also experience profound vision, hearing, or any other senses?  I'm talking about all the time, not just select moments.

Anyone else also have exceptional senses?

Hi my name is chase. For the past 3 years I've been having seizures due to severe brain damage, witch I sustained in a car crash. I was in a coma for a few weeks while in recover. When I woke up I had lost my sense touch and most of my hearing.I had to relearn how to read write walk and talk. But ever since then, I've noticed a few oddity's. The first of witch isiI can no longer see colors is all silver and black. I can read a book just fine and watch TV. But the interesting part is, the doctors can't figure out why can see at all, BC the part of my brain that took the most damge was my sensory cortex. I'm leagely blind. But I can still see just fine. I can see in near cave darkness, and my eyes are extremely sensitive to motion and light. Bright lights give me a migraine from hell.

Hypersensitivity in sight

Hypersensitivity in sight causes me to have a minor seizure from sudden changes in light tone/colors. I once got so dizzy and collapsed from a spinning wheel that have prizes on the various sections- like those seen in casinos.

I, nor anyone in my family

I, nor anyone in my family have epilepsy but several years ago I had an experience that lasted about a week.  I had very heightened senses of sight, hearing and smell.  And when I say 'very heightened', I could basically read a newspaper from across the room.  Thinking back, you would think with those heightened senses that I would be going into sensory overload but that never happened.  It was almost like I could turn them on and off and go from regular to heightened at will.  As soon as it started, it went away.  I don't recall any changes in my diet, sleep pattern, stress or anything that could have caused it.  My roommate at the time said he had heard of such things and that it was a 'cleansing' and I should be greatful for expericencing it.  He was jealous that he didn't have one.
