Vehicles seem to hate me, how about you?

Yup, I think cars hate me. All vehicles in fact and it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm driving or a passenger. I wonder if it's the motion. I just wish it would be a bit more consistent, you know? One day it's sudden and unexplained fatigue followed by blackouts. Next it's zoning out, complete 100% zone out. Wonder if that's pretty much a subtler form of the black outs? Other times it's smells. Today I was riding and I kept smelling a cherry pipe. My grandfather used to smoke those kind of pipes. However, my grandfather is long dead and there was no one else in the car smoking or even known to smoke and the other person in the car didn't smell anything like it. They're all different things, but they happen when I'm in a car, driving usually. They don't last more than a few seconds. But I can't understand what it is about cars that bring this about? Anyone else have problems with driving or riding?

I'm not sure if that's a relief to know or not. Would sunglasses lessen the effect?

They probably would though only you can find out. If they do, polaroid glasses should do so even more since they would remove reflected (flickering) light originating from puddles, wet roads and the like. I have heard that blue-tinted glasses also help but I have no personal experience there: it may be apocryphal and have more to do with the fact of the 'darkness' engendered. Maybe others can comment on that. Although my TLE epi is under control (Lamictal/Lamotrigine) I do sometimes get an epi-like 'twinge' when driving in bright light. This only lasts only a few seconds and occurs in the first few minutes I am outdoors, in daylight. It is also benign in the sense that I know from experience that it is of a type that resolves itself pretty quickly and will not develop into anything worse. Squinting the eyes helps too. Do you have epilepsy? Chris

Thank you Chris. I actually do have blue sunglasses somewhere, I'll have to make use of them. I was diagnosed with TLE last year, although it seems to have a nasty habit of becoming generalized and leaving me unconscious on the floor. I haven't had the more generalized seizures since april though, so I'm cautiously optimistic that the trileptal is keeping most everything under wraps. Thanks, Gina Marie
