time warps

Hi, Do you ever feel like your perception of time is screwed up? This happens periodically for me. I hate to admit it, but it is like the paranoid feeling I've experienced when stoned in college (20 years ago). I get overly aware of myself and it is hard to take in what is going on around me in a timely manner. For instance, if I look at someone I end up staring because when I turn away, I realise I don't remember all that I just took in. It often happens at the grocery store. The produce guy is forever asking me if I need help finding anything. Sometimes I want to say "yes, my mind." When it has happened at church I am left wondering if I was singing really loud. That wouldn't be so bad if I had a great voice but I don't so then I worry.... It is a general spacey feeling, but no deja vu. Usually I end up having a battle with the yawns that lasts maybe 10 minutes. I hate it. I yawn and yawn and yawn which makes my eyes water and my nose run. I never see anyone else overtaken by yawning. Am I just a whiny, yawning freak?!!! Do you have weird perceptions of time and do you ever wonder if you were talking outloud without realising it? Nobody ever mentions me talking innappropriately, but sometimes I wonder.....

Coopernicus, The change in life for anyone, if it is puberty, having babies, perimenapause will have a change in seizures. You can not predict when a seizure will occur. Auras can also cause you to not think properly while driving. I would like to share my story with you to show you that it is not all about you. It is also about others too. And I want you to open your eyes for the future. This was over 25 years ago. My sister and I have epilepsy. She for the most part was seizure free, I have not and never ever drove. I went through times when it was rough but learned to try to get around things. My sister did drive, seizure free and no meds. She was only 16 years old and a seizure occurred while driving. She had three other people in the car driving to school. When the seizure occurred she hit a little six year old girl who was standing at the bus stopped. That little girl was killed. It was a hard time in our lives everything changed. It was Christmas time, there was no Christmas there was not nothing it was too hard for my mom to handle. I cant imagine what the other family's life was like, and their Christmas. We also had young ones at that time in my family the same age as that little girl. So you see going through puberty or perimenapause can cause issues. I am going through perimenapause right now. Hormones are not balanced, and I just dont know when they will go down again and cause a seizure. I take progesterone, but still I am trying to get it balanced everyday of my life. I do understand your issue with driving and your job. But it sounds like something is happening with you and I think you are taking chances. I think you should talk with your doctor immediately. I just want you to understand what could happen and that you may be playing with your life and others. Please think of others if any. If not do it for your kids sake. Please see a doctor soon Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach1/ http://www.sleep-safe.co.uk/id90.htm

I appreciate your straight forward attitude in reply coopernicus honestly I do. I hope that you take this kindly believe me when I say I hate in no way to shatter your illusions.... Yet I think I am going too ... You say you are thinking, you are reading. You need to do more of both while reflecting upon what Lisa's experience of playing with life really means in the impact of that. If the reply concerning Lisa was not enough to make you stop and think about 'unsafe to drive or function properly at work, etc.' It should have... She certainly gave you enough 'food for thought' along with validation for doing so in her reply when you next go see your neuro or epileptologist to make you stop and go figure. Maybe you should talk to your neurologist or epileptologist about talking about your issues in therapy.... http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/provoke_stress.html Cat.
