suddenly falling asleep during the day
Tue, 05/26/2009 - 21:53I have partial seizures that usually involve deja vu and the occasional jamais vu. Sometimes I experience depersonaliztion, but thankfully not much lately.
I am wondering if anyone else fights to stay awake when they are inactive. I have times when I suddenly just can't stay awake. I will nod off after fighting to stay awake and battling the yawns for awhile. There are times when I even have a dream. I don't stay asleep long but I struggle to stay awake and can close my eyes and be out in a flash. The only thing I have found that helps is getting up and moving around. This usually happens when I am inactive and relaxed. Meetings, reading groups (I'm a teacher), reading, doing paperwork, watching tv, etc..... It is getting to the point where I dread reading with the children in class. I just can't stay awake if it lasts more than about 15 minutes.

Oh my gosh I have the same thing. I have have seizures (grand mal) in the past but its been n quite sometime since the last one. Anyways I will be sitting at work at the computer trying hard to focus on something or ill be staring ay something and all of a sudden my eyes will get droopy and I start feeling like I am in a dream like state in which I am half awake and half asleep, sometimes my vision goes blurry, sometimes feels as if im going cross eyed. Then my eyelids start closing and I instantly pass out (fall asleep) If I am holding anything in my hand it drops to thr floor which often is what wakes me up buy other times my body will suddenly jerk me (hypnic jerk) which also wakes me up. Its sso embarrassing because it happens in front of other employees but I cannot help it because I have no idea what it is. Or what's going on with me.
