Structure to combat memory loss and frustration

Wed, 06/21/2006 - 07:20
Does anyone else here find that a strictly structured routine helps to combat the memory loss associated with seizures? My husband and I have talked about bringing in a very strict routine for me to follow. I get easily flustered and frustrated when I cannot find things or remember things. My husband thinks a strict routine will help me with that. Opinions? Suggestions?

I've had epilepsy since age 18.I've been seizure free for six years,i'm now 35. The memory loss is not a big deal to me, but others can see it.sometimes i cant find things,or forget to do something.

Some people say that writing things down help them to remember, and I am definately one of them. It's not very involved, either, and not as time consuming as I thought. I just write down anything I really need to remember once. I usually don't even have to go back to look again. It's like when I write it on paper, by brain makes a copy to keep. I tried it in the chat room here, and I can actually remember things prople have told me about themselves, and it makes me feel great. Sometimes I do have to ask again, or get my notebook (I only really need it at home) and refresh the old memory. Susan

I'm one of those people that easily forget and memory loss, and it is so frustrating.I know how you feel.Sometimes I'll argue with my husband that he didn't tell me something and then hours later I kind of think I do remember him saying something about it.I tend to get so mad at myself, but I do write alot of notes or I'll forget. It does seem to help some.My problem is...I'll call for an appointment and the nurse will give me the date and time and as we are talking I'm writing down the right date but wrong time.I always have to call and confirm my appointments just to be sure.It makes me feel like I'm going crazy!so your not alone in this situation....believe me!!!!!
