Seizures and Roller Coasters

Wed, 04/29/2015 - 23:07

My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Cedar Point soon. He's bragging that he is going to take me on the roller coasters. Well, he knows about my Epilepsy. First off, I am terrified of roller coasters. The height and the velocity scares the mess out of me. Not to mention, I might have a seizure because of it. That's even worse. Does anyone know whether or not fast moving vehicles induces seizures? I am very conscious and always on my feet and thinking about how participating in these activities might have an effect on my health, you know? Any advice would really help. Thanks in advance.

I am a coaster enthusiast, I

I am a coaster enthusiast, I have ridden 114 so far.  Since I was diagnosed with epilepsy, I went to a park and hit a few good coasters, a couple that were firsts.  I had no problems.  However, I have other triggers and my seizures are not in control.  I can ride coasters all day, even with flashing lights.  But let me forget my meds, not get enough sleep or have a few beers and I will be doing the "Horizontal Jitterbug" the next day.

Thanks for erasing my whole

Thanks for erasing my whole posting when I signed in.  I have a TBI and a seizure disorder as a result.  I had an apt with my neurologist last week and he was not concerned about me going on roller-coasters.  I stay away from flashing lights so keep away from roller-coasters with them.  I was at a concert January 2nd and a teenager had a Grand-Mal Seizure due to the flashing lights.  I have yet to go one one since my motorcycle accident 19 years ago but miss them and plan to go on one next chance I get.
