New Here

Hi, I am new here and am looking for advice. I had been seizure free for 16 years until last Thursday. My doctor had told me a couple of years ago that I was not taking enough Dilantin to make a difference (100 mg BID). I have gone several days without my meds before and been fine...until last week.I had missed my meds for about 5 days and had a seizure in the middle of the night and then another the next morning. I know I sound so irresponsible, but I honestly thought I had grown out of this. As I previously said, it had been 16 years since my last seizure, I was on Phenobarb at the time and was trying to decrease it because I was so sleepy. My question is, do I tell my doctor??? If I do, I am afraid I will lose my driver's license, but it was my doctor who thought I wasn't taking enough meds to make a difference. I am so scared that I will have another seizure. So I feel like I need to get a level done. I have an eight year old and I am scared to be alone with her. I have been taking Dilantin for about 10 years and have been on this same dose. I just don't know what to do. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Don't quit taking your medication. I did that and i ended up having partial seizures constantly and i had a grand mal a year ago. tell your doctor about the seizures because it is not only your life you are risking if you drive. i had a seizure while i was driving and i thank god every day that i wasn't killed or more seriously injured. its not worth risking everything when it can be helped.
