help i am scared to go out.
Sun, 01/15/2006 - 14:33hi all i have developed epilepsy only six months ago because of another neurological condition called idiopathic intercraniel hyper tension.i have seizures at least three times a week and they are so scary .i get really confused and loose consciouness and also wet myself thats really embarrasing.i have lost alot of confidence and i feel i can not go outside especially by myself,please can anyone tell me if there are any steps i can take to gain my confidence back just a bit? thanks alot bevsx

hi im 54 ive had this since 1985 ive taken alot of diff meds to control the seizures ive seen a few doc. the most important thing i can tell you is ask ??????? dont take no from anyone but yourself the first time i saw a doc was in the er after my first grand maul he said i had heat stroke even after i gave him simtoms of epilepsy he feels real low now they made him go back to school last i heard good luck i hope to here from you often

I have had epilepsy most of my life. Believe me I know all about being embarrassed in public and about fears to even go in public. First you need to work very closely with a doctor to get your disorder under some controll. I had to change medications several times before one worked. Second I spent most of my life being scared that something would happen in public.But I would not let this controll my life. face your fears and live your life. I do reccomend that untill you have a better feel of how you handle your medications, having someone with you sometimes can be helpful. You wont feel as afraid. Make sure they know about your disorder and how to handle it if it happens. You can get past this.
