eye problems/seizures?
Tue, 06/14/2005 - 23:47Hi,I would like to know if anyone else has problems with their eyes before a seizure?The problem I have is that before a seizure,my eyes feel very heavy and if I am awoke from it then I see double for just a short time.I remember everything that has happened and can hear during it.Just can't move or open my eyes or talk.I have been diagnosed with epilepsy. Thanks for any info., Maggie

I had perfect vision before I had 3 gran mal seizures in April 2018 afterwards I was DX with petit mal seizures and noticed my eyesite was so bad I couldn't read anything in small print ..very unusual for me .. Now I wear glasses .seizures changed my whole life .now I have about 10 petit mal seizures every month .

Hello LynnI understand your frustration I have PNES (Psychogenic nonepileptic seizures). Mine started with a walking disorder, now I have eye issues before the seizure starts, my seizures i never become unconscious. I still have a little walking issue. I was lucky and did not have to go through lots of Neurologist we have a good Neurology teaching hospital about 100 miles from my home. Once I was actually diagnosed with PNES the first step is to see a psychologist that is trained in helping patients with PNES and work on seeing if this helps the seizures. (saying this last bit, the PNES seizures are not controllable and just the debilitating as epileptic seizures). I take Gabapentin for nerve pain it is also an anti seizure med and if necessary they can increase. I hope you find a way to get your seizures under controll.
