Epilepsy.com -Where Everyone is Welcome???

Mon, 08/06/2007 - 01:53
I did a lot of reading on this site before I finally decided to join. I thought it was a community where everyone was welcome. Well, lately I've learned that not everyone agrees. There are a lot of people on this site who wish to exclude anyone who annoys them. I haven’t seen such a huge degree of snobby exclusion since middle school. Apparently, not everyone is cool enough for the super-cool-kids club. I think that the purpose of this site is to educate, support, and share. It's not to exclude and judge someone else unworthy because they complain too much or post too many links. It is most certainly not here to make people and their many burdens, concerns, and questions feel unwelcome. A lot of people on this site are at very confusing and difficult time in their lives. Not everyone knows how to deal with this. A lot of people have no where else to turn, and are desperately seeking counsel and advice on everything from how to deal with doctors and family members to basic information on the kind of medication they are taking. Sometimes anxious people can be annoying, and even may be perceived as rude. Ranters may be perceived as "drama queens" and people with psychogenic symptoms may be perceived as "fakers." Nevertheless, these people still deserve our understanding and our compassion, and I think that we have all been one of these people at one point or another. There are people on the internet with malicious or mischievous intent, but I have found their number to be few on this site, and it isn't right to group everyone who you don't like or disagree with into that category. There are a lot of good people on this site, and I would be very sorry to see this site turn into a site of exclusion and intolerance instead of support and compassion. Although I may be new to this site, I extend my welcome to everyone. I think that when people come to this site they should feel assured that they won't be accused of being a drama queen, a ranter, a know-it-all, and least of all, a faker. I used to have that confidence, but now I'm not so sure.

I agree there is a limit. Sometimes it is shorter then other times. I do agree it is "Enough" As for sunflowers comment. I do agree we are all prob. on someones list. I will say that is most likely the truth. But naming names...hmmm seems stupid to me as if there isn't already a bit of a war lets name names and make it like highschool. Anyway just wanted to say I agree with you itsmyeviltwin. ~*Samantha*~
