What about the fear to drive again once you have been cleared. The thought of hurting someone is just not something I could live with. I am told that the Tegretol will prevent me from having another seizure. I had my first seixure in November at work and then another one while driving home from work in February. I didn't hurt anyone but hurt myself very bad. Will the fear gradually go away? Everyone is asking me when I am going to drive again? I DON'T KNOW! I am scared to drive. Does anyone have anything to add?

I hear many people who live in big cities don't drive. If you live in a rural or suburban area there are ways to get around without a car. Not driving is not the end of the world. If you haven't had any seizures and got your license back then I would say go ahead and drive. But pay attention to anything that might be seizure related, the auras and other things. Tell your doctor and let him/her decide if you should still drive. Any medical emergency can happen to anyone while driving. Atleast we know what signs to look out for and take precautions if needed.

i know how you feel. after i had my seizure i was frustrated that i couldn't drive but i was young and felt like my freedom was taken away which is why driving is such a big deal. i finally got my licence back and it was great but then i had another seizure. now i am not really afraid to drive but very wary because i was lucky that i never hurt anyone last time and like you i don't think i could live with myself if i hurt someone knowing what could happen to me while driving considering it already did once. i walk now and i also have my dad who has been great for driving me to my neuro appointments which are 2 hours away from where i live. don't be scared just be wary... less stress you know? :)
